Introduction

In the past, Midland's agencies faced the inconvenience of being limited to updating property information and generating proposals solely through desktop computers in their office. This process required printing out paper proposals, which proved to be cumbersome and impractical.

To address these challenges, our goal is to design a new property database application for Midland. This application will empower agencies to update the property database anytime and anywhere using their smartphones or tablets with just a few simple steps. Additionally, it will provide them with the ability to search for properties and generate professional digital proposals for their clients even when they are away from the office.
Pain Point
Limited Access and Proposal Generation
Users restricted to accessing the property database and generating proposals solely through their office desktop computers, limiting flexibility and convenience.
Outdated and Confusing User Interface
The user interface (UI) is cluttered and maintains a Windows 2000-style appearance, causing new users to require an extended period to become familiar with the system.
Unnecessary Inclusion of Rarely Used Functions
Certain functions that users seldom utilize are prominently featured at the primary level of the UI, leading to confusion and potential inefficiencies.
Resistance to Major Changes by Established Users
Long-time users express reluctance towards a significant overhaul of the system, as it would necessitate a substantial learning curve to adapt to the new interface and functionalities.
Solution
Mobile Access and Proposal Generation
We will introduce an online property database system that is accessible on both tablet and smartphone platforms. This will enable users to access the database and generate proposals from anywhere with mobile data connectivity. By providing this flexibility, users can stay productive on the go.
Modern and Intuitive User Interface
To address the issue of an outdated and confusing UI, we will revamp the visual elements with a trendy design while maintaining the general layout and positions of features to minimize the learning curve for existing users. The new interface will be intuitive and visually appealing, ensuring a more user-friendly experience for both new and experienced users.
Streamlined User Experience
We understand the frustration caused by rarely used functions cluttering the primary level of the UI. In our revamped system, we will prioritize commonly used features and simplify the interface. By eliminating unnecessary elements and organizing functions in a logical manner, users can quickly locate and access the tools they need, enhancing overall efficiency.
Consideration for Existing Users
Recognizing the resistance to major changes by long-time users, we will carefully balance the need for modernization with familiarity. The updated system will retain similar positions and workflows to the previous version, reducing the learning curve for existing users. This approach ensures a smooth transition and encourages user adoption while still introducing valuable enhancements and improved functionality.
